.We need to live up to it.""I can do that." Matt followed him out of his room and watched while Lee closed and locked the door."Mostly by kicking your ass at pool and giving you a ride now and then.""I'll take it.""I know you will.Come on, I want to find out if we have any other famous dudes in our family."Chapter Eight R-E-S-P-E-C-T When Lee woke up, he was sure he was going to die.He had no idea how he could possibly have caught the flu, but clearly he had.His head was pounding, his stomach was a mess, and something might have died in his mouth.Rolling over seemed like a very, very bad idea, so he lay limply where he was, hoping that death would take him almost immediately and he could end his suffering. Then the memories started coming to him, one after another like a sick and sadistic marching band, complete with drum major. The drinking. The laughing. The eating. The sex, the shower, the more drinking, the coffee and cold water and even the swimming. The sun had been coming up when they'd done that, and he honestly wasn't sure if they'd been naked or not.Lee groaned and made himself sit up.He had to get up if he was going to make it to the bathroom and the shower."Oh, God." He whispered it, but an answering curse from the other side of the bed sealed his intention to get up.He couldn't stay in bed with Joey, not when he was still half-drunk and all the way messed up."Go back to sleep," he mumbled.Joey made a noise that was either agreement or a death rattle, and Lee dragged himself off to the bathroom. The flashbacks to sex were a lot stronger in the shower and he wound up leaning on the tiles with his eyes closed, hoping that if he stood there for a while he'd eventually feel human enough to deal with the situation. When the hot water got cool, he turned it off and stayed where he was, drying slowly. His head didn't hurt so much if he stayed still and didn't think too hard.Eventually, however, he had to get out and find a towel; Joey would need the bathroom, and no one was going to put the coffee on if Lee didn't do it.Also, the pain relievers were in the kitchen -- along with all the towels, it turned out. They'd apparently spent some time trying to figure out which towels to take to the pool. The kitchen was a complete disaster.Clothes, food, bottles, glasses, dishes, and towels were all over the place, and the sink was full of what looked to be tea towels bearing more food and other substances Lee didn't want to think about too hard.In the middle of the mess were two pairs of soaking wet boxer shorts, so that was one mystery solved.Deciding that he'd be a good host, Lee first put the coffee on and then found the bottle of pain relievers. He took a couple, drank a lot of water, and then got Joey's ready for him.A big glass of water in hand, he took three pills into the bedroom and set them on the nightstand."Hey, you," he said quietly, using one hand to brush hair from Joey's forehead."Pills and water here.Mouthwash in the bathroom.Coffee is on.Stay here for a while; I used all the hot water so it'll be about twenty minutes before you can shower.""God, I feel like shit," Joey whispered. He managed to get one eye open, though, and then he attempted a grin that failed about half-way into formation."You're naked. If I wasn't dying I'd be thrilled.""The towels were in the kitchen," Lee told him.He would have rolled his eyes, but that would have hurt."You take these, okay? Rest up a little more and then shower. You'll feel better.""Are you still going to be naked when I do all that?" Joey's eye had closed again and he was still whispering."Probably not.""Are you going to be naked again in the near future?"Lee sighed."We'll talk. When we don't have to whisper.""Boo." Joey rolled over and groaned."Gimme an hour.Stay naked.I like it."Lee laughed softly and walked around the bed to his dresser and found a pair of track pants to pull on."Meet you in the kitchen.I'll try to find your clothes." Joey's reply was another mumble, but Lee hadn't expected much more than that.He went back to the kitchen, checked to make sure the coffee was brewing, wished it would brew faster, and set to work. The towels all went into the laundry, save one that was still folded. That one he put in the bathroom for Joey, hoping it had missed all of the carnage they'd wrought. The clothes were sorted into piles of "belongs to Joey" and "disgusting", the latter being put with the towels. The tea towels in the sink joined the laundry, and then the food was thrown out.He only had to stop for more water once, and to sit down to hold his head twice.Lee was pretty pleased, all in all; he'd expected to be sick and seemed to have avoided that entirely. When he heard movement from the bedroom he got up from the table again and took Joey's clothes down the hall."I'm not sure if you actually want to wear them," he said with a tight grin that he hoped didn't look too much like a grimace, "but here they are."Joey took the stack, gave Lee a kiss on the cheek and headed into the bathroom without a word.Lee admired his butt until the bathroom door closed, then went back to scrape plates and gather all the dishes for washing. While Joey showered Lee checked all the bottles, put the empties in the recycling and found the caps for the spirits that were still left. They'd really had a lot to drink, it seemed.Far, far too much. When the water stopped running in the bathroom, Lee filled the sink and started washing dishes, starting with the mugs. The coffee was ready and they'd need it, as soon as they could get it."I think I might live." Joey's voice was rough, but he was speaking at a normal volume as he came into the kitchen wearing only his jeans
